Design and construction of a new 5 Green Star rated primary school on a greenfield site for the Ministry of Education. Hingaia Peninsula School (Years 0-8) is New Zealand's first Green Star built school. Its cost-planning was done according to a fixed budget on an open-book basis.

The project required close work with the Ministry of Education and the Hingaya School Board of Trustees from the beginning to design a primary school that complied with Board and MOE requirements as well as a Green Star rating.

The school design is based on two large (290m2) teaching studios with three teachers in each studio. Studios are multi-functional spaces to cater to a variety of learning styles.
