Auckland Zoo's new administration wing provides an important focal point at the zoo's entrance, setting the tone for what lies ahead. The building offers a multifunctional space that allows employees to choose between open-plan workplaces, acoustically sealed focus rooms, advanced contemplative spaces, flexible collaboration areas, breakout spaces, outdoor spaces and formal meeting areas.

In line with Auckland Zoo's aspiration for a sustainable future, the new administration wing utilizes a high-performance building envelope that supports a low energy profile through natural light and passive ventilation.

An efficient and collaborative approach to the design process was key to the success of this project. As main contractor,  DF Construction Services Limited  set the initial brief, exceeded budget and then worked closely with the design team and subcontractor pool to achieve some significant cost savings. A concerted effort was made to ensure that the project remained on track through strict implementation of the procurement program in line with the contract schedule.
